The Novel Studio 2015 Showcase

We were treated to commercial and literary fiction that travelled continents and time periods, back into Victorian England and 1960s Paris, and forward into dystopia and allegory. Whatever your tastes there was something for everyone.

By Rebekah Lattin-Rawstrone, Course Director, The Novel Studio

After a year of hard work shaping and developing their novels, the Novel Studio class of 2014/15 stepped onto the stage to share extracts of their work before an audience of friends, agents and publishers.

The charged atmosphere more than surpassed the soaring temperatures as a talking wall contended with a 6ft Bengal cat and ghosts haunted the living, the terminal and a seemingly isolated button maker.

We were treated to commercial and literary fiction that travelled continents and time periods, back into Victorian England and 1960s Paris, and forward into dystopia and allegory. Whatever your tastes there was something for everyone.

Once we’d faced the end of the world and contemplated the deaths of loved ones, audience, tutors and students alike were keen to celebrate successful creative endeavour with liquid and loquacious refreshment.

The Showcase was a triumph with much industry interest shown across the board.

We look forward to celebrating these Novel Studio graduates’ future successes. Their reading extracts and novel outlines are now available to read.
