Careers
The Career and Skills Development Service advertises current vacancies and offers help if you are looking for work (whether part or full-time, paid or voluntary) and during or after your time at City. Postgraduates are particularly welcomed by employers. Our students can find out about current vacancies on the Vacancy Board.
Through this service, you can:
- Talk to professional careers consultants to gain an insight into the current labour market and devise and implement strategies for achieving your career goals.
- Talk through your ideas, concerns and issues on a one-to-one basis, in either a short drop-in session or a more in-depth guidance interview.
- Take part in specific activities, workshops and seminars, to help with job search, applications and other career-related opportunities.
- Go on a guided tour and get advice on the best way to make use of the extensive resources available, both in the Service and online. There are also several computer aided guidance packages.
- Obtain information on vacancies, recruitment processes, training courses, presentations and occupational information. Our Careers staff are also in regular contact with local, national and international employers, professional associations, City alumni and other agencies.
Employers contribute to specific activities and seminars on self-marketing techniques, effective job application, CV preparation and interview techniques. They also hold regular presentations and attend our campus career fairs to meet our students and discuss their recruitment practices.
