Pure City

General

This hall of residence is offered to City, University of London students by Pure Student Living, a third party housing provider. Students who are offered accommodation at Pure City will sign an agreement with Pure Student Living and not with City, University of London, and will therefore be bound by Pure Student Living's conditions of residence.

Main features

  • Pure City offers 275 rooms with either en-suite or studios available.
  • En-suite rooms are 12-13 m2 with four foot double beds,shower, wash basin and toilet, and shared kitchen.
  • Shared kitchens are shared between up to 15 people and includes, two-ring hob, four-ring hob, oven, microwave/grill, fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle, personal locker, table and chairs.
  • Studio rooms are 16-18 m2 with four foot double beds, kitchenette with two-ring hob, combi-microwave, small fridge-freezer, sink and breakfast stool, as well as  en-suite shower, wash basin, and toilet.
  • All rooms include study desk, bookcase, pedestal drawers, wardrobe and chair
  • Residents have access to an outdoor courtyard and benefit from 4Gaming and 4TV which is included in the rent.
  • Accommodation for students with mobility support needs is available.
  • Approximately 7 minutes' walk from City, University of London's main site at Northampton Square, and 11 minutes' walk from Cass Business School.

Location

Pure City is situated in the local area of Clerkenwell - an ideal location for students studying both at the main campus in Northampton Square and at Cass Business School as it is within easy walking distance of all City's facilities. The Barbican Centre, one of London's liveliest cultural venues, is nearby as well as a plethora of restaurants, bars and pubs of Farringdon and Shoreditch.

The area is well served by buses as well as the Underground. Living in London's Zone 1 means you are within easy travelling distance from all other parts of London.

Instalment Related

What do I need to pay to reserve my room?

The deposit payable is £200.

What are the rent instalment dates?

If you are paying in one instalment, you will need to do this by 31/08/2016.

If you are paying in three instalments, the dates are 31/08/2016, 11/01/2017, 12/04/2017. Please note you require a UK Guarantor.

Your instalment dates are also available on your Pure Student Living student portal.

How many instalments is the rent paid?

Rent is paid in one instalment or in three instalments. If you are paying in three instalments, you will pay 40% of the total rent for the first instalment, 40% for the second, and 20% for the third. To pay in three instalments you require a UK Guarantor.

How much do I need to pay for each instalment?

The instalment amounts for City nominated rooms are as follows:

  • Ensuite: £4,467.60 (40%), £4,467.60 (40%), £2,233.80 (20%)
  • Studio: £5,457.00 (40%), £5,457.00 (40%), £2,728.50 (20%)

Please be aware that these amounts are for students who book through City only. If you book directly with Pure City, your instalment amounts will vary.

Payments

How can I pay for my rent?

You can pay by credit or debit card or by bank transfer. Unfortunately, Pure City are unable to take cash or cheques.

Can I pay by a bank transfer?

Yes you can. For bank details, please contact Pure City after you have received your contract.

Can I pay by instalments if I'm an international student?

Yes, you can pay by instalments as an international student if you have a UK Guarantor. If you have a UK Guarantor at the time of accepting the offer, the guarantor will receive an email notification confirming that they have been nominated as a guarantor. The Guarantor will need to accept the offer and upload the following documents:

  • a. Guarantor ID
  • b. Guarantor proof of address

Only once the offers have been accepted and the documents have been received, the booking is confirmed. The rent charges will only be allocated to the students account once this has been done. A Tenancy Confirmation email will be sent to the student with further details regarding check in. Rental instalments will be due at least 10 days before the contracted start date.

Do you need an UK Guarantor to pay instalments?

Yes, you do - all students wishing to pay in instalments must have a UK based guarantor.

What if I don’t have an UK guarantor

You will need to pay in one instalment.

Cancellations

How can I cancel my reservation before my contract starts?

14-Day cooling off period

If you choose to cancel your booking with Pure City, you have 14 calendar days to cancel the booking, from the date of receipt of our Acceptance Email.

If you have made your booking less than 14 days before your scheduled check-in date, you may cancel your booking until the earlier of (a) 14 days after receipt of the Accommodation Offer email and (b) the date you actually check-in.

You may cancel your booking by sending an email to Pure City (enquiries@purecity.co.uk). CRM Students will refund your booking fee within 14 calendar days of cancellation.

If you cancel your booking after the 14 calendar day cool off period, you will not get your booking fee returned to you and you and your guarantor, if reasonable, will be required to meet the obligations set out within the Tenancy Agreement.

Cancellations after you have moved into the accommodation

You find a suitable replacement to take a new tenancy agreement for your room for the remaining period of your contract.

Replacement tenants must be 18 years old or over and enrolled on a full time Postgraduate student at City, University of London.

Can I cancel my contract after I have moved in to the room?

Please be aware that you must have a minimum of 12 weeks left on your contract, Pure City will not allow any replacements with lees than this period remaining.

How long before I receive a refund of rent if another student takes over my contract?

Refunds are processed within 28 days of the termination of your contract.

Housing Related

Is there any additional items I need to bring to the hall?

You will need to bring your own bedding and personal items.

Can I have guests stay over?

All guests must be over 18 and provide ID- Unlimited guest policy but more than 6 guests at a time need authorising with management. Guests can stay for 3 consecutive nights and anything longer will need to be authorised by management.  They will need to sign their guest in at the reception and they need to be with them at all times.

Can I bring a TV with me?

You can bring a television with you, however it is your responsibility to make sure you have paid for a TV license.

Can I arrive before my contract start date?

No.

What if I am unhappy with my room, can I change?

Yes, depending on availability, please speak with hall for further information.

What if I want to extend my stay?

Yes, depending on availability, please speak with hall for further information.

Is there a cleaning service available?

Yes, via an external company. Please speak with hall for details.

What are the laundry charges?

The laundry costs £2.70 per wash and £1.20 per dry.
