What is Clearing?

Clearing is the part of the year when applicants who have not been successful in finding a place at university can approach those institutions which still have vacancies.

For those eligible for Clearing, UCAS will make the option of applying to institutions through Clearing available on an applicants UCAS Track Account. UCAS will also provide further information on their website about how Clearing works, and how to contact institutions. They will also display vacancies for every institution.

It is very important that you contact your preferred university before submitting yourself through UCAS Track. Universities are entitled to reject any unsolicited Clearing applications that are submitted without the applicant making initial contact with the university.

If you obtain a place, you will then need to submit yourself to your chosen university through the electronic process.

Also don't forget that if you already have your qualifications you do not need to wait until A level result day. For you, Clearing has already started so you can call the university today.
