Access to Learning Fund

Information about the Access to Learning Fund at City University including how to apply and who is eligible.

The Access to Learning Fund for 2009/10 is now closed.

Please apply to the City University London Hardship Fund, for which you would be considered in the same way as the Access to Learning Fund.
The Government gives the University money every year called the Access to Learning Fund to provide assistance for students who have additional financial need, are in financial hardship, or who face an unexpected financial emergency while they are studying.  If you receive assistance from the Fund, it will not normally have to be repaid.  Priority is given to students with dependent children, students from low income families, students who have been in care or are homeless, undergraduate students in their final year or disabled students (especially where the DSA is unable to meet particular costs).

Who is eligible?

You must be classed as a 'Home' student and meet certain residency requirements to be eligible to apply to the Fund.  Undergraduate students must have applied for, and be in receipt of their full student loan and/or NHS bursary.  Postgraduate students must be able to demonstrate that they have made adequate provision to cover their tuition fees and living expenses before they can apply to the fund.  International and EU students are not eligible to apply. If you are unsure whether you are eligible to apply, please contact the Student Centre for further information.

How do I apply?

Applications must be handed in person, or posted, to the Student Centre with all accompanying documentation.  Please see the links below to download the full guidance notes and application form.  If you need assistance with the form, drop in to the Student Centre or the Student's Union Information and Representation Centre for some assistance.  Forms are usually processed within 4 working weeks and all applicants will be notified by post as to the outcome of their application.
Applications are now closed.  Please apply to the City University London Hardship Fund
