The needs, interests and views of City University students are represented in a variety of ways by the Students' Union, both through a number of different Student Representative roles and through the work of the Student Advisers in the Students' Union, the Union Support Service
The students elected to these roles are responsible for representing and expressing the views of students to University staff, Schools and Departments.
There are three full time positions for Sabbatical Officers within the Students' Union. Sabbatical Officers are elected Trustees on the Students' Union Trustee Board, and via this Board are responsible for the running of the Students' Union.
Their role is to listen to students' views and represent these on University Committees and at a national level at the NUS conference. They also run a range of campaigns each year on issues of student interest.
Sabbatical Officers are elected annually in the Spring term.
Union Council Members are elected to represent the views of students to the Students' Union Executive Committee and to make recommendations regarding the work of the Students' Union.
Union Council meets monthly to discuss the work that the SU is doing, to approve work of the Executive Committee and to raise any issues of student concern.
Union Council Members are elected annually in the Autumn term.
These are School based posts and as an SRO, you will be elected to represent the views of your own School. SROs have a place on the Students' Union Executive Committee and attend the University's Student Affairs Committee.
The role of SRO is to feed back student views on issues relating to courses, the University's services and Students' Union services.

City University London Students' Union sends a number of delegates to the annual NUS conference. This position requires the students to attend a three day residential conference and represent City University London Students' Union in debates, seminars, and votes of national student importance.
NUS delegates are elected annually in the Spring term.
There may be occasions when you need support and representation on individual matters relating to your studies and your relationship with the University. This could be to do with matters such as academic appeals or misconduct, complaints and disciplinary issues.
The Union Support Service (USS) is the part of the Students' Union which offers one-to-one confidential advice and support to students on such matters. The aim is to help resolve any problems at the earliest possible stage so as to reduce any further impact on the course. The USS staff can help by:
