Although the Students' Union is primarily intended for students of City University, we are also able to offer some services to University staff.

Supporting Personal Tutors

The Union Support Service (USS) has professional staff who advise and represent students on a one-to-one basis on a range of issues including extenuating circumstances, appeals, complaints, and academic misconduct.  This means that you do not need to spend your valuable time supporting these students, but can be sure that your tutees are receiving the best possible support.  You can refer students to us for this support, or we will be very happy to discuss students’ support needs with you.  Please contact us  to discuss your student support needs. Supporting Programme Representatives

The Union Support Service supports your Programme Representatives by giving them training on how representation works at City and other key skills.  We can work with you to deliver training that is suitable for your Programme Representatives, and of course you are welcome to attend our sessions and talk to our staff if you have any questions about representation at City. The Students' Union Venue, Ten²

The venue comprises a flexible social space with a cafe and bar area as well as a shop selling a wide variety of products.

 

Our intention is to make the new venue the social hub of the University, not just for students  but for staff too.

 

Want to beat the crush in the local pubs? Friday nights are particularly popular with staff and postgraduates and we offer a relexed atmosphere, background music and a good range of wines and spirits at the bar.

 

Hiring the venue

Now that we have such a great social space, we want to make it accessible to everyone in the University, not only to students.  Why not use Ten² for staff or student events for your School?  This might include:

 

  • Pre-enrolment activities for students
  • Christmas parties
  • Leaving parties
  • Awards and celebrations

 

We can cater for groups of anything from a couple of dozen up to approximately 300 and we can offer a full hospitality menu.  If your event incorporates an award or leaving gift, you may wish to take advantage of our branded goods offer mentioned below.

Students' Union Shop

The new venue has allowed us to upgrade the Students' Union shop, completely revising the range of goods on offer to more closely match the needs of our staff and student customers.

 

We already stock a range of City University branded goods, such as pens, cufflinks, mugs, glassware and clothing.

 

  • Would you like to offer School specific branded goods for your students?
  • Would you like to be able to offer School branded goods to your corporate clients?

 

As we have negotiated good deals with our suppliers, we can arrange for School specific branded items such as glassware, leather goods and other executive gifts to be supplied at a very competitive rate.

 

These will be ordered to meet your specific requirements, and Rowan Lord, Membership Services Manager, would be happy to discuss the process with you.

 

When supplying branded goods we will:

 

  • Provide you with a catalogue of available products.
  • Give you a full quote and exact delivery date, backed up by visuals, within 24 hours of your requirements being notified to us.
  • Provide you with sample products if required.
  • Fulfill your order from the catalogue within 3 to 4 weeks, sometimes less, depending on the product.
  • Do our best to source any items you require which are not in the catalogue from alternative suppliers.

 

If goods are required for a specific event date, please give us as much notice as possible.
