Anthony Woodiwiss

Anthony Woodiwiss joined City in 1999, having been Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology at the University of Essex.  His teaching and research interests range from social theory, through comparative sociology, to human rights, and he has been a visiting professor in many countries, including Japan, Hong Kong, the United States and Mexico. He is the author of Social Theory after Postmodernism and Postmodernity USA, as well as three books on the sociology of labour rights, including Globalisation, Human Rights and Labour Law in Pacific Asia. Most recently he published The Visual in Social Theory and Making Human Rights Work Globally. He is also on the editorial boards of Economy and Society and Citizenship Studies.

He teaches on Introduction to Sociology and Theories and Research Strategies in Contemporary Sociology.
