The School of Social Science encompasses a wide range of research, internationally and collaboratively, over the disciplines of Economics, International Politics, Psychology and Sociology. Since 2001 we have been awarded £7.2 million of new research funding on top of existing grants from the Research Councils, EU and Charities. Our school advises the UK government, international organisations on national and international matters and also advises the EU on many matters. It hosts the multi-nation European Social Survey (ESS) funded by the European Commission which is a survey of changing social attitudes and values across Europe and ICAR the Information Centre about Asylum and Refugees in the UK. We are widely publicised in prestigious journals, international conferences and in all forms of the media and news. We aim to be recognised internationally as the country’s leading provider of applied Social Sciences.
