Funded research in the Centre naturally fuels the training activity and provides a platform for wider debate in the social research community.

Recent research

'HIV/AIDS and the well-being of children in sub-Saharan Africa: A cross national comparative analysis' (January 2007-December 2010). This was a secondary analysis project based on the international Demographic and Health Surveys data from 20 countries across sub-Saharan Africa. The analysis focuses on cross-national variations and features multilevel modeling and spatial analysis.

Training

Training in both quantitative and qualitative research methods is provided through the Graduate Programme in Social Research Methods

This training fits the ESRC's 1+3 funding for research studentships. The Sociology Department has recognition for the receipt of one quota research studentship.
