Memory & Cognition Research Group
Group membership and research areas
- Professor Peter Ayton: Decision making and risk
- Professor James Hampton: Concepts and category representation; Metacognitive awareness of the limits of knowledge; Role of conceptual design of novel hybrid products
- Dr Marie Poirier: Memory
- Dr Lydia Tan: Memory
Activities
Research activities are organised round a weekly lab workshop involving all members of the Group, and including research assistants and graduate students. Members of the Group use these meetings to talk about their research plans, as well as current problems.
The activities of the Group have expanded considerably in recent years. Members have become involved in work with:
- the perception of food risk
- the dependability of software design (Ayton)
- the stability of category representations and conceptual combination (Hampton)
- the effect of perceptual factors, similarity, and cue overload on memory (Poirier).
International collaborations
These have been established with colleagues in Belgium, France, Israel, Portugal, Turkey, Canada and the USA.
