Theories and research in global politics

In this module you will look at what theory is for in the study of global politics.

You will then review the contending theoretical approaches to global politics, exploring their assumptions and examining the ways in which they try to explain and understand international political life.

You will also examine contemporary international normative theory and explore the ‘metatheoretical’ arguments that have been had in international relations, paying particular attention to the question of how we might start to choose between these contending theories.
