Political sociology

This module will introduce you to key concepts in political sociology and provide you with the knowledge and analytical tools necessary to engage with different areas of sociology enquiry within the department and the discipline.

In the seminars and workshops we will focus on concepts such as the nature of political and social power, social cleavages, the development of the state, the relationship between states and societies, empire and colonialism, democracy, revolution, and ideology.
