Media, violence & culture

In this module you will examine criminological, media studies and cultural studies research of how factual and fictional representations of crime and criminality are produced, disseminated and represented in different media formats.

We will study various types of media-constructed criminality and examine how media coverage shapes public perceptions of crime and influences public policy decision-making. 

We will focus particularly on an in depth analysis of the media’s relationship with high-profile murder cases.
