You will be introduced to the field of international communications, explore some of the topic's complexity and analyse the main influences on the international communications system, such as national and international policy, technology, corporate strategy and globalisation.

You will examine the creation of new national media systems following the collapse of empires such as that of the soviet union.

You will analyse several facets of the impact of globalisation on international communications, such as the formation of a global media system, the emergence of global information networks and the relationship between local identities and global culture.

The module will prepare you for further research in international communications and provide you with access to knowledge of debates and issues in that field.
