This module focuses on a number of core theoretical debates that have shaped the sociological study of human rights.
You will become familiar with a range of contemporary theories, debates and controversies in human rights and social theory.
You will look at the ways in which social theory has engaged with the question of human rights from both a theoretical and a practical/policy angle.
You will explore case studies illuminating the ways in which the sociology of human rights can help us analyse key questions about human rights in contemporary societies.
You will gain an understanding of key theoretical perspectives and theorists in this area.
