History & theory of psychology

The aim of this module is to introduce you to the major historical and theoretical issues in psychology, and to the concept of the self or mind.

You will learn about the philosophical origins of psychology, introspection, behaviourism, psychodynamic theory, evolutionary psychology, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology and neuroscience.

You will be introduced to major figures in the history of psychology, including Wundt, James, Pavlov, Skinner, Piaget and Freud.
