What is the best thing about studying in London?

The best thing about studying in London is being in a busy city where access to resources and fun activities is so easy.

Why did you choose your course?

I chose my course as I wanted to be able to do a placement and I enjoyed economics at school but I also wanted to add something new.

Why did you choose to study it at City?

I chose to study at City because I wanted to study in London and I had looked around some other universities in London and City seemed the most welcoming.  The course description also matched my requirements as it had an optional placement opportunity and it had the joint honours of economics and accountancy option.

What's your favourite topic within your study area?

My favourite topic within my study area was my placement last year.  I worked for a big 4 accountancy firm and really learned what it was like to be an accountant including the long hours at year end.  I met lots of amazing people and had lots of client interaction experience.  I have also now obtained a job for after I graduate which means that in third year I can just concentrate on my studies.  I also sat the first 9 ACA exams which are helping massively with my third year studies.

If you could give one bit of advice to a prospective City student, what would it be?

Make sure you want to be at a London university.  It is very different to a campus university and more effort needs to be made in order to socialise as often your friends will live across London.

What are your plans after graduating from City?

After graduating City I am going to travel for the summer and then start as a second year associate for the firm I worked for in my placement year and aim to finish qualifying as a chartered accountant.

What are your interests outside of your course?

Outside of my course I play netball for the university.  I also dance at Pineapple dance studios and teach dance and PE part time in a London School.
