Overview

Dr Filippopoulos joined City in February 2011 as director of the Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DPsych).

He has worked as an assistant clinical psychologist and later as a psychological therapist specialising in neurodegenerative disorders and learning disabilities.

He trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and studied Clinical Neuropsychiatry at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and completed his training in Counselling Psychology and a PhD in Time Perception. He has worked at various organisations as a practitioner and lectured at Staffordshire University in Psychology and Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

Immediately prior to joining City, Dr Filippopoulos was a Senior lecturer in Counselling Psychology and Course leader of the Professional Doctorate programme at Regent’s College, London. Dr Filippopoulos is a chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society.

He is an accredited existential psychotherapist and a constructivist psychotherapist and an Accredited Mediator. He is a member of the Institute of Learning and also holds a private practice in London.
