The Construction Processes Research Centre continues to undertake high quality research that addresses the challenges faced by the construction industry.  This research focuses both on construction within the urban environment and construction affected by environmental forces, such as offshore and near shore structures.  These areas of research complement the search for sustainable construction solutions.

Extensive facilities for high quality physical model testing remain a key feature of research in both geotechnical engineering and structural engineering.  Facilities are developed in collaboration with other areas of the School, particularly in terms of instrumentation and monitoring.  Physical modelling is complemented by innovative, world leading numerical modelling, particularly in hydrodynamics.  Industry focussed research in geotechnical engineering exploits new expertise in structural reliability applied to geotechnical problems to broaden its application to a wide range of civil engineering structures.
