Research at the Centre for Mathematical Science
Most of the mathematics research at City University falls into the three broad categories:
- Algebraic Representation Theory
- Mathematical Physics
- Integrable Quantum Field Theory
- High Intensity Laser Physics
- Pseudo Hermitian Hamiltomians in Quantum Physics
- Low-Dimensional Magnetic Structures
- Fluid Dynamics
- Mathematical Biology
In the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 100% of the Mathematics staff were submitted for assessment in two areas, in Applied Mathematics and in Physics. In both areas we achieved a rating of 4.

Research Seminars
Research seminars are held on a regular basis. Use is also made of other seminars around London.
Opportunities for Ph.D. Research
There are opportunities for postgraduate research leading to a Ph.D. here in the Mathematics Department in many of our fields of interest.
