Support for Researchers
At City we seek to attract and develop the most promising and outstanding researchers, both staff and students.
We aim to provide high quality services and support to enable our researchers in turn to carry out high quality research and enterprise.
Obtaining funding for your research
The Research Office provides advice on external funding sources, including access to the Research Professional Information Services, and help with putting together a high quality proposal and with costing applications and dealing with contractual issues ahead of awards being made.
Financial management of research
A dedicated Research Grants and Contracts team provides support for the on-going management of research grants and contracts including budget monitoring and preparation and submission of claim statements.

Consultancy
City University London Enterprises provides dedicated advice and support for staff undertaking private consultancy, including negotiation of consultancy fees, provision of professional indemnity cover, advice on contracts and non-disclosure agreements, invoicing and collection of payments from clients and dealing with tax issues.
Support for consultancy undertaken in the University's name is provided by the Research Grants and Contracts team.
Development and training
We are committed to supporting the principles of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. In particular we provide a substantial Research and Enterprise Development Programme which addresses the needs of all levels of researcher, from doctoral students to the more experienced researcher wishing to develop further skills or make a greater impact with their research. Our own senior academics contribute to many of the events.
Skills training also includes use of the bibliographic software RefWorks, for which the University has a site licence.
