Research and knowledge transfer events at City University

In addition to the series of evening public lectures which take place each year, with speakers drawn from leaders in industry, science and the professions, and topics representing the full range of subject disciplines at City (see the What's on pages for details of anything coming up), the University holds a range of events with a particular focus on research and knowledge transfer.

City Spark Business Plan Challenge

The City Spark Business Plan Challenge is currently running as a follow on from the  autumn term competition for students who want help getting their big ideas in business and social enterprise off the ground. Students need to register to take part by 5 March 2010 and the deadline for business plan submissions is 12 March 2010.

City Annual Research Competition

The 2010 Research Competition for staff took place on Tuesday 19 January. It is anticipated that the next Competition will be held in December 2010 as a result of the change in the academic year structure which comes in from 2010-11.

Interdisciplinary Week

A series of events with an interdisciplinary focus, led by staff from the University's new Interdisciplinary Centres, took place during the week 18-22 January 2010. Another week of interdisciplinary events is planned, again likely to be in December 2010.

City Research Half Day Series

From time to time, half day research events are also organised around themes which are of broad interest across the University, to provide an opportunity to raise the profile of research activity within the University and to enable staff and students to find out more about each other's work via presentations and through social networking at the end of the event.
