The Department of Radiography at City University has an ethos of research excellence and its academic staff offer a unique profile of research activity coupled with extensive industrial and hospital experience. Our research teams are engaged in fundamental, applied, translational, educational and professional research related to radiography and physics; their work is both informed by and looks towards current and future national and international priorities in health and its related areas - such as the environment and nuclear safety. Interdisciplinary health related research is promoted through our newly established and expanding Saad Centre which is committed to the generation and dissemination of research for the national and international advancement of radiography education and practice.
We currently have two closely related research laboratories.
The department has blossoming research related activities in e-learning, exercise and cancer and professional education.
We collaborate extensively with other UK, EU and North American universities and research centres and we enjoy excellent collaborative research with the major UK hospitals. Our funding is principally obtained from the research councils but we have a balanced portfolio of funds, including funding from industry, the EU and charitable trusts. We also have fee paying European and international students.
