Effie is the Research Fellow for the Centre for Performance. The Centre joins experts from the Organisational Psychology Group and Cass Business School and aims to undertake leading edge research that impacts on business and policy. Effie’s role at the Centre involves bidding for research grants, facilitating research proposals, knowledge transfer and marketing the activities of the Centre in close collaboration with Professor Jo Silvester (Director, Centre for Performance at Work). Previous research experience involved working on the ‘Immortal Information and Through-Life Knowledge Management (IITKM): Strategies and Tools for the Emerging Product-Service Paradigm’ project (EPSRC/ESRC Grand Challenge Initiative) at the University of Liverpool Management School.
In August 2008, she completed her PhD which was awarded with no corrections (Department of Management, University of Stirling). Her research focuses on how knowledge workers understand and define themselves and how they maintain their identity in organizational contexts that employ Knowledge Management initiatives; and on how and why knowledge workers transfer knowledge in multinational organizations. The thesis derived from the areas of Knowledge Management, Organizational Analysis and Human Resource Management and was chosen because of its critical approach to existing academic work and business practice.
As a doctoral researcher at Stirling University, Effie taught and mentored overseas students, pioneered the First Annual Postgraduate Conference and took part in the Quality Enhancement Committee (QEC), the Joint Research Ethical Committee of the Department of Management and Organization and the Department of Marketing, the Board of the Faculty of Management, the Steering Committee of the Stirling Graduate Research School (SGRS), the Research Knowledge Transfer Committee (RKTC) and the Working Group on Ethical Review (WGER). Through these experiences Effie gained insight into issues of concern in terms of both teaching and research. Effie holds an MSc in Human Resource Management (Department of Management, Stirling University). At the early stages of her career, she studied Accounting and Finance and gained work experience in CITIBANK S.A. which informed her choices and understanding of business in the academic world.
