Organisational psychology looks at how people function in work environments. This includes recruitment and selection, training, appraisal, industrial relations, health and safety, technological and organisational change, ergonomics and job design. The City course aims to provide a unique combination of theoretical and practical skills and techniques.
MSc in Organisational Psychology
The MSc in Organisational Psychology is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), so graduates can work towards becoming Chartered Occupational Psychologists. Candidates for this course should normally have the BPS Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC).
MSc in Organisational Behaviour
The MSc in Organisational Behaviour is designed for candidates who do not have Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC). Students on this course are taught alongside and receive the same modules as the Organisational Psychology students.
Note: Applicants to this course should normally have a Psychology component to their undergraduate degree.
Course aims
Both courses provide professional training in organisational or occupational psychology and equip successful students with a sound understanding of theory and research across the sub-disciplines of organisational psychology. They also introduce students to the range of practical skills and procedures required of practicing occupational psychologists. The courses attempt to bridge the gap between theory and practice by teaching both, and showing how each is important to the success of the other.
