Preparing for PG study at City

Once you have confirmed and registered, you can look ahead to starting with us. Here you can find out more about timetables, key dates for your calendar and reading lists.

Preparing to start

During Induction Week you will complete the formalities of registration, this will include checking all students eligibility to study in the UK (so you will need to bring your passport), and issuing your student card. The schedule for Induction Week is yet to be finalised but there will be activities scheduled on this day including an introductory talk from the Head of Department, and talks from various services around the university.

Teaching commences on the week beginning Monday 2nd October 2017. The full academic year dates can be found here.

If you are sent a provisional reading list prior to the start of the course, you can prepare by doing some reading from this.

Receiving your timetable

We do not provide students with individual timetables, but will provide information on how these can be downloaded from the City website. Timetables can be downloaded via programme and module. You may also have lab, seminar or tutorial group classes and these are allocated via our e-learning site Moodle.

Sample timetables for some programmes have been provided below.

Reading lists

Some courses will provide a provisional reading list, which is usually circulated during the summer before the course commences. Upon registration you will gain access to your module pages in moodle, where the relevant reading lists will be posted.

Sample reading lists for some programmes have been provided below.
