"With sport and fitness there is always something new to try or learn and you don’t get a chance to get bored."
Leisure Supervisor – Recreation.
What is your favourite sport and why?
Anything to do with weight training, such as power lifting, bodybuilding and calisthenics. This is interests me and I’m slowly making progress. Also, it’s great to watch at a high level.
I work in sport because..?
Fitness has been a lifelong passion; I’ve always been active and don’t like sitting still. With sport and fitness there is always something new to try or learn and you don’t get a chance to get bored.
Competitive sport or just for fun?
I have played competitively in the past when I was at school in netball, hockey and football and at trampolining at university. Now I prefer to use the gym as my goals have changed.
How do you stay fit and healthy?
I try to train 4 to 5 times per week in the gym, mostly lifting weights or bodyweight exercises. My favourite lift is the deadlift as it works pretty much the whole body. I’m also working on my pull ups. I eat fairly healthily, try not to drink too much and aim for 6 to 8 hours of sleep per night.
What gives you your motivation?
I enjoy training and how I feel whilst I’m doing it, so that is motivating to me. I also set myself lifting goals, such as deadlifting my bodyweight or squatting a particular weight.
Who is your sporting hero?
Dana Linn Bailey, Physique Bodybuilder. She rocks.
What is the one item you would take on a desert island?
What is your favourite movie?
V for Vendetta. If you haven’t seen it, give it a watch.
