Overview
Marian Riley-Poku joined The City Law School (formerly The Inns of Court School of Law) as a Visiting Lecturer in 2006, and then as a full-time Lecturer in January 2011.
She studied Law at the London School of Economics, and is a member of Lincoln's Inn. She was called to the Bar in November 2000. Her practice was mainly in general civil and commercial work, Immigration and Human Rights Law. She became qualified to practice at the Ghana Bar in August 2010.
Her main teaching is on the Bar Vocational Studies (BVS) in Civil Litigation, Civil Advocacy, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Drafting, Opinion Writing and Company Law. She is the Coordinator of the Company Law and Insolvency elective. Marian set up the Company Insolvency Pro Bono Scheme (COIN) in 2015 and the scheme is a clinical partner on the LLM in Clinical Legal Education (CLE) . The scheme provides free legal advice and representation for Litigants-in Person who attend the winding up court in the High Court and Marian supervises students who choose the COIN scheme as their clinical partner on the LLM (CLE).
