Overview
Clare is a specialist in human rights who has worked for the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg and for the Ombudsman of Human Rights in Bosnia.
Clare has acted for the Government in a wide variety of cases including judicial reviews of immigration decisions. She is a Special Advocate and has security clearance. She has acted as a Junior in a case instructed by the Motor Insurers' Bureau, raising human rights points in the House of Lords.
Within a broad domestic practice, Clare is also developing a reputation in personal injury work, principally for defendant insurers. In addition, she has acted in cases of clinical negligence. Clare fulfilled the role of Junior Counsel (appointed by the Treasury Solicitor) to a public inquiry into the murder of solicitor Rosemary Nelson in Northern Ireland in 1999.
Clare is developing a reputation in personal injury work, principally for defendant insurers, with a particular interest in sporting accidents involving sailing, skiing and mountain biking.
In addition to her personal injury work, Clare has acted in cases of clinical negligence and was a Junior to Ben Browne QC in a number of substantial cerebral palsy cases.
As a Human Rights specialist, Clare is a member of the Treasury B panel and has acted for the Government in a wide variety of cases including judicial reviews of immigration decisions. She is a Special Advocate and is security cleared. She has appeared before the Special Immigration Appeal Commission, and has experience as a Special Advocate acting in control order cases and deportations on the grounds of national security. She has a thorough knowledge of the European Convention of Human Rights and acted as a Junior to Dermod O'Brien QC in a case instructed by the Motor Insurers' Bureau, raising human rights points in the House of Lords.
