City welcomes Parisian students to a Winter School programme

The City Law School welcomes students from Paris for a Winter School on English and Welsh law.

Despite the wintry weather and delays on the Eurostar, students from the Paris-based ESCP-EAP European School of Management arrived at City for a Winter School programme designed to give students a solid understanding of how the law works in England and Wales, in particular commercial law and commercial dispute resolution.

The course is the first of its kind for The City Law School and ESCP-EAP European School of Management and could lead the way for future collaborations with European Business Schools.

The broad and varied programme will include lectures on Mergers and Acquisitions, Competition Law and civil procedure, all to be given by some of the country’s leading academics.

“The Winter programme is the first of its kind to take place here at City. The Parisian students will get to learn from some of the profession’s leading academics, and it is also a great opportunity to build our relationships with European Schools.”

Penny Cooper, Associate Dean, The City Law School

The series of lectures will be followed by two social events, giving the students an opportunity to listen, learn and network. Staff will join course participants at a reception at the law firm Taylor Wessing at the start of the programme, as well as a formal dinner as the course draws to an end. The students will be joined by barristers, solicitors who own and run law firms and junior lawyers who have recently started their legal careers.
