Journalists gather at City to discuss new technologies, tools and skills for online journalism.
Journalists gathered at City last week for news : rewired, a Journalism.co.uk conference, where participants heard about new technologies, tools and skills for online journalism.
The keynote speaker of the day was Professor George Brock, City’s current Head of Journalism and former International Editor of The Times, who spoke about the uncertainty surrounding the future of business models in journalism.
“The search for a new business model in journalism is like throwing spaghetti at a wall – a lot has to be thrown at it before anyone knows what will work next. That is why we are proud to have hosted news : rewired, as it is ideal forum for journalists to throw spaghetti and discuss the big questions facing the profession.”

Conference participants also had the opportunity to listen to talks about the practical side of online journalism from the likes of Kevin Marsh, BBC College of Journalism; Mark Rock, CEO of AudioBoo (an audio version of Twitter); and Ruth Barnett, former Social Media Correspondent at Sky News, all of whom had advice on the use of audio, videos and third party websites.
