LDC’s Innovation and Development module at City

City runs module in Innovation and Development

The Learning Development Centre (LDC) is currently running the Innovation and Development module as part of the MA in Academic Practice programme.

The module has been developed to enable staff to undertake work-based innovation or development in their Department or School. The project can be related to learning, teaching or assessing, as well as the wider enhancement of the student experience.

Example innovation and development activities might include: revising the assessment strategy for a programme, developing some online learning for students, creating some podcasts or implementing Personal Development Planning (PDP) in your programme.

Assessment is negotiated according to the nature of the development, but could include podcasts, a conference paper of a report with successful completion leading to 15 Masters level credits.

The module provides an opportunity for staff to undertake work-based activity they might be planning, with support from a peer group and academic. It will also enable staff to gain credit for their work and a chance to share with peers at the LDC showcase event or the Learning at City Conference, which take place in June 2010. This is an ideal opportunity to develop a project and explore innovation in practice under the supportive guidance of the LDC.

The first session is on 9th December. For further information please contact module leader Andrew Oliver (andrew.oliver.1@city.ac.uk). To register please email maap@city.ac.uk
