BAA Chief Executive Colin Matthews will speak at City University London on Tuesday 19 May about the business' latest plans to modernise Heathrow airport.
In a forthcoming lecture at City University London, the Chief Executive of BAA, Colin Matthews, is set to disclose details about the modernisation of Heathrow airport including the development of a third runway.
There has been much debate over the third runway regarding the benefits of airport expansion versus the environmental impact, which Matthews will address at the University on 19 May.
In the lecture, titled ‘Building quality into Heathrow’, Matthews will also discuss the planned delivery of a £4 billion capital investment and construction programme, explaining how it will change the airport.
This lecture is seventh in the series of Constructors’ Lectures and is part of a wider programme of events planned to celebrate City University London’s Centenary of Aeronautics, celebrating the delivery of 100 years of aeronautical education.
Prior to joining BAA, Matthews held a number of senior executive roles in the UK, Group Chief Executive of Severn Trent (water and waste); Chief Executive of Hays Plc (business services); Group Managing Director of Transco (gas transmission and distribution); and Director of Engineering, then Director of Technical Operations at British Airways.
The Constructor’s Lecture Series is a joint venture between City University London and The Worshipful Company of Constructors, a livery company for professionals working in, or supporting the construction industry. The Lecture is sponsored by Costain, an international engineering and construction company.
