Professor Tim Lang discussed the challenge of securing the world's food supply during a City University London lecture on 4 March 2008.
During the lecture, Professor Lang examined the clash between our cheap food culture and sustainability, and questioned the current dominant position of Britain which implies that we are contributing to global food inequality. At stake are fundamental questions for our national policy: what is land for, what skills are necessary and where does the public interest lie?

Professor Tim Lang is one of the world’s leading commentators on food policy issues. He coined the term “food miles” and is considered by many to be the godfather of food policy.
Last year Professor Lang released hard-hitting research into the failure of the world’s top food companies to produce healthier food and this year he and his team at City University London have turned their attention to food security and sustainability. He continues to be one of the world’s most influential figures in food policy.
