This partnership will bring together key Russian business figures located in London, with UK government officials, higher education leaders and distinguished academics. The project will equip graduates from all three universities with the knowledge, skills and personal qualities to play leadership roles in the global economy.

Ian Creagh, City University Secretary, who has been instrumental in the partnership, comments:

“We are very internationally focused, with students from 163 countries. We have particularly strong links with Russia, and especially St Petersburg, and we are the second largest recruiter in the UK of Russian international students who come to us to study engineering, business and computing. We are looking forward to building a more formal and productive relationship based on these links.

“We are very pleased to receive this British Council funding, which allows us to strengthen our links with the SPSPU and Penza State University. Many of our Russian graduates return to their country to take up leadership roles in a variety of industry sectors, with all of them retaining strong personal ties to London and the UK, and we look forward to building on this.

“We are particularly honored that HRH Prince Michael of Kent attended the launch, and also to welcome the Rector of SPSPU and his senior colleagues.”
