City’s excellent graduate employment is once again confirmed by The Times Good University Guide which ranked City second in London and fourth (out of 111 universities) in the UK for graduate employment.
The ranking, which focuses on those who are in graduate-level jobs or pursuing postgraduate studies, includes graduates working in the traditional professions such as medicine and law as well as occupations that have become graduate level such as sales, management and skilled clerical jobs.
City’s high ranking can be attributed to several factors including a mix of relevant undergraduate programmes which attract highly-focussed students, high-quality teaching and professional support, and the hard work of the students themselves.
“We expect the highest standards from our students and I am not surprised to find City University fourth in the UK for employability in The Times league tables. This result is a testament to the hard work put in by staff and students across the whole institution and to our varied portfolio of courses which are all highly relevant to the world of work,” said Wilma Martinelli, Director of City’s Centre for Career and Skills Development.
City’s Centre for Career and Skills Development, was highlighted as “excellent” and the University graduate employment “consistently impressive” in the recent Guardian league tables. “City has a strong commitment to developing students’ employability skills through work experience, partnerships with City employers, volunteering and mentoring opportunities,” said Wilma.
“Our team of highly motivated, professional careers staff in the Centre offer training, careers coaching, advice and guidance to ensure that our students make a successful and effective transition to the world of work,” she said.
