City graduates recognised in New Year Honours list

City graduates Nancy Hallet and Geraint Davies recognised for their outstanding contribution in their fields.

nullNancy Hallett, former Chief Executive of Homerton University Hospital NHS Trust in Hackney, East London and City graduate, was made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire and is now Dame Nancy Hallett DBE for services to healthcare.

Dame Nancy Hallett studied an MSc in Health Management at City, graduating in 1999. She joined the Homerton trust in 1993 as director of nursing and patient services, having previously worked in nurse management and education.

She is credited with overseeing the London trust's achievement of top ratings while delivering integrated healthcare for a locally deprived population, and is regularly present on the wards.

Also recognised were honorary graduates Peter Hendy, the commissioner of Transport for London, and Stephen O'Brien, Chair of Barts Health, who were Knighted for their services to transport and healthcare respectively.
