Sidley Austin LLP renews Internship programme at City

Major International Commercial Law firm Sidley Austin LLP has renewed its International Commercial Law Internship at The City Law School for 2012.

Professor Alan Riley, Director of the LLM Programme at The City Law School, said: "This internship gives the winning student the opportunity to blend the knowledge that he or she develops on our International Commercial Law LLM courses with first-rate practical experience at one of the world's top law firms."

Stephen Kinsella, partner in the Brussels office of Sidley Austin, said "We are delighted to work with The City Law School to offer this internship."

Under the terms of the internship, students taking modules in International Cartels, Substantive EU Competition Law, Comparative Antitrust or World Trade will be invited to compete for the internship, which will take place from May to July 2012 inclusive. The competition will be judged by essay and by interview and The City Law School has agreed an automatic dissertation extension of two months for the winner of the internship.

Further details about the Internship:

• Sidley Austin will offer a bursary of €5,000 for the three-month internship.

• The internship will take place from May to July 2012 in the Sidley Brussels office, subject to identifying a suitable candidate.

• Selection will be on the basis of an essay plus interview of the students who achieve the top essay mark in each of the relevant course modules. The essay will be the assessed essays from each of the courses and will be marked in February with interviews taking place in late February/early March.

• If awarded, the winning student will be granted an automatic two month extension to his/her LLM dissertation deadline by The City Law School.
