City Emeritus Professor Rhian Samuel has new work performed at Society of Women Musicians event organised by City alumna Dr Laura Seddon - 4 November 2011
The concert is entitled 'They Clapped Until She Bowed Once More' and the event celebrates the centenary of the Society of Women Musicians (SWM), which was founded in 1911.

The concert features a selection of historical music by SWM members plus three new commissions from contemporary practitioners, including City Emeritus Professor Rhian Samuel.
It includes works for voice and chamber ensemble as well as a work for tape and another using mixed media.
The concert is being organized by City alumna Dr Laura Seddon, who completed her PhD thesis, entitled 'The Instrumental Music of British Women Composers in the Early Twentieth Century', in 2010 and is currently writing a book on the subject.
