City Music composition PhD student - commissions and concerts

Mark Lawrence, a PhD student in composition as City's Centre for Music Studies, has received the following commission:
by 'All lies undiscovered before me' - a piece for choir and orchestra to celebrate the opening of the new St Mary Redcliffe Secondary School in Bristol, in the presence of the Princess Royal.

The concert, 'Out of the Sea of Sound: A Celebration Concert' will take place at St Mary Redcliffe & Temple School, Bristol, Tuesday 29 November at 19:30.

Mark has also been invited to present a paper, 'Veljo Tormis: a legacy' at the forthcoming conference, 'New Approaches to Writing Music History' at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Tallinn, and Estonian from 2-4 February 2012.
