City University London's undergraduate music degrees offer you the chance to immerse yourself in every aspect of music at the highest possible level, whilst also equipping you for a wide range of future careers. Past graduates have included concert soloists, jazz performers, music therapists, music industry executives and sound recording engineers, as well as teachers, music administrators, marketers and entrepreneurs.

Key features 

Each of these degrees allows you to explore a range of different musical activities, including:

  • Performance | take private lessons with professors at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, participate in a wide range of classical and world music ensembles, and perform in our brand new, high specification performance area and at major London venues including LSO St Lukes and St John's, Smith Square.
  • Composition | work with internationally renowned Department staff, with opportunities to workshop your pieces with professional performers and at concert performances by Department ensembles
  • Cultural Studies | explore the form, function and meaning of music in a diverse array of past and present cultures, choosing from a wide range of modules taught by experts within the Department and culminating in a major research project investigating a topic of your choice, guided by a specialist supervisor
  • Applied Studies | experience vocationally-oriented musical disciplines taught by industry practitioners with real-world experience of their subjects, including sound recording, music business and music therapy
