The world leader in negotiation programmes is to deliver training as part of City's Master of Information Leadership.

Karrass Worldwide, the world leader in negotiation programmes, is to train students on City University London's Master of Information Leadership (MIL). This will ensure that the next generation of Chief Information Officers (CIOs) can negotiate effectively with their suppliers and colleagues and create the cost-savings that are in demand in both the public and private sectors.

The interdisciplinary MIL is an executive postgraduate course launched in 2010. It is designed to equip senior IT professionals with the technological, commercial and managerial expertise that are vital to today's information-led economy.

"With the IT function playing an important role in the profitability of organisations today, it is crucial that CIOs have the necessary skills to secure the best deals from their suppliers and strike agreements with their internal clients," says Andy Preston, General Manager, Karrass Worldwide. "We have provided senior executives with this expertise for more than 40 years and look forward to bringing this heritage to City's unique course."

David Chan, Director of City's Centre for Information Leadership, adds: "The recent Government and IT - A recipe for rip-offs report highlights what can go wrong when those in charge of IT do not negotiate with their suppliers effectively - overspends and overruns become the norm. By adding Karrass to the mixture of academics and industry practitioners who already deliver the MIL, we will give our students the knowhow to avoid such problems."

The part-time Master of Information Leadership is aimed at mid-career professionals with at least three to five years' experience in business-facing IT management or consultancy roles, who are seeking to progress to CIO-level or other top leadership positions. The course has its next intake in September 2011 and is taught during one weekend each month over a period of two years.
