Personal Lithium Blood Level Analyser for patients with Bipolar Disorder
In vivo and in vitro investigations of skin hydration and barrier function using Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS)

Bio

Dr Meha Qassem is a post-doctoral researcher in the Biomedical Engineering Research Centre at City University London. Her main research interests are in the area of spectrophotometric and spectroscopic analysis, and in the development and application of instrumentation and sensors for diagnostic/therapeutic purposes. Her previous work was focused on non-invasive and in vivo analysis of skin hydration and barrier function using Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR), and is currently working on an NIHR funded project that is aiming to develop a personal device for monitoring lithium levels in patients with bipolar disorder.
