Professional liaison unit

The Professional Liaison Unit operates across the Schools of Engineering, Mathematics and Informatics. The unit supports both students and employers through the process of undertaking or providing placements, internships and work-based learning.

The PLU offers a variety of bespoke work-based learning programmes, all of which have been designed to accommodate varying requirements of students and employers. Please follow the link for further information regarding our schemes.

The PLU also manages the Professional Development in IT module which is designed to help students enhance their employability and plan for success.

Our Aims

We aim to maximise the student experience, by equipping our students with the tools required to bridge the gap between education and employment.

We do this by:

  • Offering student placement and internship schemes across undergraduate and postgraduate courses
  • Working closely with industry to identify placements and gain professional input for course design
  • Offering a simple and complete service that enables organisations to access City Talent

If you would like to find out more about what we do then please feel free to get in touch by emailing placements@soi.city.ac.uk
