Learning Enhancement and Development

Learning and Teaching Funds

LEaD can offer staff small amounts of funding each year to undertake development around teaching

Funding available for 2016 / 17

There are two sources of small amounts of funding for this year that you can apply for to undertake some development around teaching.

These are:

Coaching for Teaching Grant

The coaching for Teaching grants provides an opportunity for you to reflect on and examine your teaching practice. This is a good opportunity for anyone who wishes to aspire to be a leader around education and/or apply for a future National Teaching Fellowship nomination.

Apply for one of these grants and you will be awarded £1,000 which will be used to engage a coach to work with you. We will work with HR to contact a coach and ensure they are paid and then you can arrange with them the focus of your activity. At the end of your grant we ask that you write a short report or blog post about what you have done and participate in an evaluation of this experience.

Education Enhancement Grant

Do you have you a project you want to undertake focused on enhancing an aspect of learning, teaching or assessment? Do you need any funds for small pieces of equipment and to engage students in helping with the development or the evaluation?

You can apply for an education enhancement grant to support this. The funds you apply for can be used to:

  • Small pieces of equipment such as transcribing equipment
  • pay students to undertake specific activity with you or run focus groups
  • pay for transcription of interviews

We will ask on completion of any development you write a short report or blog post about what you have done.

Future Development

Undertaking activities such as these is useful if you are wishing to apply for any level of HEA Fellowship but also if you want to engage in the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme in the future as these types of projects are those they expect to have seen individuals engage in.
