The City Law School's legal student portal...

Lawbore 

Lawbore is the portal of The City Law School and is a great way to find out what it's like to be a law student at City. The portal's key purpose is to help you track down key resources to support you in your study. Topic Guides offer links for each of the subjects studied to recommended websites, journal articles, reports, cases and key papers. Forum is a chatroom where you can talk to other students and ask each other for help. City Hub is the community part of the site; offering course notices, law school news, the e-library and flags up new and recommended resources. Learnmore is the unique law how-to wiki; containing online tutorials, video guides and talking slide shows on a range of subjects from mooting, study skills, using a law library, doing exams to pro bono.

 

Many of the resources have been compiled in collaboration with students at City University to ensure we have the best guides out there for our students. We were recommended in The Times in January 2009 as one of the top 7 websites for student lawyers 'Clever law students let the web do the work'

 

Emily Allbon, City's Law Librarian developed Lawbore in 2002 (with a City LLB student) and this fast-moving site has received much acclaim. Emily was named Best Academic Legal Information Professional at the BIALL/LexisNexis Awards for Excellence in 2005. The team behind Lawbore was shortlisted for Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards in June 2009.  

 

Lawbore Professional 

Lawbore Professional is tailored to the needs of our Legal Practice Course (LPC) and Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) students and the profession. Lawbore Professional provides up-to-date course news, learning resources and database access for students of our Law School. In addition, our Practice Guides of links, articles and key documents collated by law librarians are tailored to the needs of the legal profession and are available to everyone. 

 

New! Lawbore Future Lawyer

New for 2009/10 Lawbore Future Lawyer focuses on the career routes available to law students. The site also offers an insight into the paths our alumni have taken via articles and video interviews. We'll have a student team reporting on City events, and pieces from our academic staff, legal journalists and careers experts.
