Professor Susan Nash joined The City Law School in January 2009. In addition to her responsibilities as Dean, she teaches the law of evidence. Her main research interests include international criminal law, criminal procedure and evidence and human rights. She has a particular interest in the implementation of human rights reforms in Turkey, and was a member of the steering committee for the Council of Europe programme entitled Modernising the Judicial System and Prison Reform in Turkey.  She has been engaged as a Council of Europe expert for a range of human rights training projects in Turkey.

Before joining The City Law School, she was a professor of law at the University of Westminster and Head of Department of Postgraduate Legal Studies. She was called to the bar in 1979 and is a door tenant at Tooks Chambers in London.

She has written extensively in the fields of human rights and criminal law and evidence. Key publications include International Criminal Law 3rd Edition (with Ilias Bantekas) (Routledge, London, 2007); The Cartel Offence (with Mark Furse) (Hart Publishing, Dartmouth, 2004); 'Special Advocacy: Political Expediency and Legal Roles in Modern Judicial Systems' (with Andrew Boon) (2006) Journal of Legal Ethics; 'Improperly Obtained Evidence in the Commonwealth: Lessons for England and Wales ?' (with Andrew Choo) (2007); 11 International Journal of Evidence & Proof ; 'Detention' (with Adam Lazowski) in 'The European Arrest Warrant in Practice' (eds N. Keijzer, E. van Sliedregt T.M.C. (Asser Press, The Hague, 2009). She is a regular contributor to the practitioner section of the New Law Journal.
