Susan first became a member of The City Law School staff (formerly the Inns of Court School of Law) in 1978, following a few years in civil and family practice.
Susan was appointed Director of Studies in 1998 and Associate Dean in 2002. She was previously Course Director of the Bar Vocational Course at the School, having played a major part in the design and initial development of the course. Susan now takes an overview of educational development across all City Law School courses and is a member of a number of School and university committees..
Currently, Susan is the Course Director of the LLM Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution, which focuses on current issues in civil litigation, and the growing use of alternative dispute resolution options. She also teaches civil litigation, ADR, civil advocacy, opinion writing and drafting on the Bar Professional Training Course.
Susan is the author of A Practical Approach to Effective Litigation published by Oxford University Press and now in its seventh edition. She is also a co-author of A Practical Approach to Alternative Dispute Resolution published by Oxford University Press in 2010. She makes substantial contributions to The City Law School BPTC manuals, including in the areas of drafting, opinion writing and negotiation.
Susan attends and speaks at a range of conferences in relation to many aspects of legal professional skills training.
