Before joining The City Law School, Paul McKeown practised exclusively in criminal defence as a barrister at Mitre House Chambers, where he remains a door tenant. He defended regularly in the Crown Court in cases involving offences against the person, sexual offences, public order offences and offences of dishonesty. He has also conducted appeals in the Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division). In chambers, he served on the General Management Committee and the Pupillage Committee.
At The City Law School, Paul co-ordinates Evidence and Advanced Criminal Litigation and teaches Criminal Advocacy. He is a contributor to the Law School’s Evidence Manual (OUP) and is a co-author of The Modern Law of Evidence, Keane, Griffiths & McKeown (OUP).
